For people like me who can’t carry a tune… I’m serious… I can NOT sing to save my life, lip syncing is a wonderful pastime. It’s all the joys of singing well, without all the dogs howling references. Lucky for me Facebook is always tinkering with their platform and adding or removing features like the Facebook ticker. The company just announced a brand new feature for the social network, Facebook Lip Sync Live.
How Facebook Lip Sync Live Works
Due to some new licensing agreements, you can lip sync to songs from popular tracks like “Welcome to The Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses and “Havana” by Camila Cabello. You can even invite someone else to your Lip Sync party and have an epic battle.
When your app does get the feature you will be able to start a Lip Sync Live by opening up the regular “Go Live” menu. Once you are there, you select Lip Sync Live and then select the song you want to sing. There are currently several songs to choose from. Unfortunately, I’m not sure The Greatest Showman is on the list yet. If it was, it would definitely be the music I choose to pretend to sing. After you have finished your song, then you can post and share your video for those who weren’t able to catch the live show.
Another Way to Share Music
The company is also currently looking into ways to allow people to share videos with copyrighted music embedded. For example, you want to share your first dance at your wedding with your spouse. The song you were dancing to is copyrighted, you may not currently be able to share it. Facebook stated “Together with the music industry, we are working to enable people around the world to include music in their videos on Facebook, opening up more options for creativity and sharing memories with friends and family. We’re testing this in several markets now and look forward to making it available more broadly soon.”
