Animazement is a volunteer, fan-run anime convention at the Raleigh Convention Center (Memorial Day weekend), celebrating popular Japanese visual culture in all of its forms. The convention attracts thousands of attendees, and features a huge range of events, such as videos, cultural demos, fan and guest panels, J-pop/rock concerts, martial arts demos, craft classes, artists, vendors and more. The theme for 2016 is Space, and Astronaut Soichi Noguchi will be attending. There will also be a free, open-to-the-public classical concert featuring composer and conductor Toshiyuki Watanabe and the Duke Youth Symphony, performing excerpts from the Space Brothers orchestral soundtrack. We will be hosting J-rock band OreSkaBand, along with voice actors such as Kyle Hebert and Aya Hirano. Tickets may be purchased at the door. For more information, visit website.
